Grant Writing II: Finances & Preparing a Budget

Presenter: David Lee

A winning grant application requires a sound budget, which will demonstrates to a jury that you have the financial structures and plans in place to achieve your mission and organizational sustainability.  Drawing on years of business experience in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors, David will provide detailed explanation and useful advice on how best to present a budget, including monthly and annual financial expenses, revenue-generating initiatives, and deficit reduction plans.


David Lee

David is a business consultant who has developed and led programs within and across the private, public and non-profit sectors in Canada and Australia. His passion is finding connections between people and organizations to create new relationships and opportunities. His focus over the last four years has been in local economic development, cross-sector stakeholder engagement and capacity-building of arts organizations and other non-profits, primarily in the Downtown Eastside. He served on the board from 2008 to 2010 and then as the Treasurer on the board of the VIVO Media Arts Centre and as a consultant with Building Opportunities with Business (BOB). David served on the CACV board from November 2008 to 2010. David chaired the Member Outreach Committee initiating many important developments including the use of salesforce database, member recruitment strategies and membership processes.
